Our story

Software for the way a car yard actually works.

Most business software is built for an office with a desk and a spreadsheet. A car yard is not that. It is a phone in your pocket, a customer standing in front of you, and a margin you need to know today — not at the end of the quarter.

The problem we kept seeing

Yards run on memory, notebooks and a spreadsheet that only one person understands. It works — until it doesn’t.

  • Profit is a guess until the car is gone and the costs are added up from memory.
  • Money owed to you lives on someone’s phone, or nowhere at all.
  • When a customer is finally chased, it is already a month too late.
  • Nobody can see the whole yard without asking one person to explain it.

What we believe

A few decisions that shape how the product is built.

Phone first

The yard is not a desk. Everything is built to be used one-handed, while a customer waits, and to install to the home screen like an app.

One price

No per-seat pricing, because a shared login is how records get lost. Everyone gets their own account, and the price does not move when you add them.

Your records stay yours

Your cars, margins and debtor book are isolated at the database level, and you can export them whenever you like. We do not sell data or run ad trackers.

Built in Nairobi, for Kenyan yards

Yard Ledger is made and run from Nairobi. It is priced in shillings, it knows the cost lines a Kenyan yard actually carries — landed cost, mechanical, paintwork, NTSA transfer, broker commission, fuel, showroom fee — and it chases balances by SMS the way a yard already does.

It is free while it is in beta. If it does not pay for itself by the end of the month, you have lost nothing but the two minutes it took to set up.
